What is a Hospitalist?
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in Family or Internal Medicine and chooses to exclusively care for patients in the hospital. Rather than splitting their time between office visits, hospitalists can focus on your needs as an inpatient. During your stay at our hospital, the hospitalist directs your testing, treatments, and care.
Doctors at Parkridge East Hospital
If you are admitted to the hospital, our board-certified physicians work closely with specialists and other hospital staff to provide high quality and effective inpatient treatment.
The hospitalist will advise you to return to your primary care physician when you are released from the hospital and will ensure that your regular doctor receives reports about your hospitalization.
Why Do We Use Hospitalists?
- Familiarity with key hospital staff, including medical and surgical specialists, case managers, and other specially trained care providers
- Availability to rapidly respond to problems or crises that may arise during the hospital stay
- Partnering with primary care physicians in coordinating specialized medical treatment for individual patients
